  Why do you believe the bible? or not?

  when i began questioning the religion i used the bible and their own statements to prove them wrong.

  now, recently, i have began to realise that maybe the only reason i put any faith in the bible is because i was always raised to.. so my question is, after leaving the watchtower, what was it that made you decide the bible was worthy of belief?.

  i am not asking about any continuing belief in god or disbelief, i am more conscerned about the first step (to me) right now of the bible itself.

  I find it gives me hope which I don't think I could find anywhere else. When I draw my last breath I would like to have hope.It tells me about Jesus Christ the coming of the seed and the hope for mankind.

  I don't find that it asks too much of me just to be a good person as best as I can be and believe that Christ paid my debt. I think we all feel that we fail many times in life and Christ can make it right.

  I know people who are much cleverer than I will ever be who are doctors, and professors and they believe the bible, I know billions of people worldwide and throughout history have accepted the bible. In the houses of parliament hangs a painting of people who risked their lives to read Wyecliffs bible.

  In my life I have had supernatural problems so to speak and I find the bible was a comfort and help.

  Can you be misled by your beliefs? Are your beliefs mislead?

  do you believe in god, ghosts, zodiac, homeopathy, spiritual forces, energy, ufos, hell, heaven, you name it.

  many people have beliefs that are very important to them.

  until recently i believed that homeopathy was a good form of treatment.

  Atheism, the absence of someone to pray to.

  i was talking several days ago with a believer who was telling me what an atheist is.

  i personally do not have any gods, therefore i consider myself an atheist.

  however this person was telling me that an atheist says there is no god.

  well i was thinking... kinda random stuff this morning.

  there was on the news of volcano eruption in brussel and it was so cool looking.

  no injuries were found but i got to see the lava and thinking how beautiful it was.

  what ignorance of us to think it is us that god is listening too.

  perhaps it is the ants and the punishment on them is us human jerks who treat them like, 'ants!

  ' maybe their day will come and god will do their vengence for them and smite us down to make things right with their queen, the god!

  Understanding Christ's Sacrifice

  i haven't always understood how christ could have carried our sins for us, and had them forgiven.

  i've sort of understood because that's what people say he did, but the ransom (in a legalistic adam/jesus way) never held weight for me.

  but something recently happened that allowed me to understand.

  How Important is knowing the Truth, Really?

  is the quest of finding the real truth even attainable?

  is the quest of trying to find out worth the risk and the sacrifice of losing the love of friends and family?

  oh, i know many of you will say the "love" is fake or not true if it can't hold up to scrutinty.

  Jesus said "I am the truth" which would indicate he knew there was only one.

  The "truth leads to eternal life" but not as we know it.

  Does God Create Evil?

  the view held by christian theology is that god did not create evil.

  you may argue this point using scripture to support either side.

  however that argument is but a symptom of a much larger problem which is choice and free will.. the concept among christians is that sin, suffering, and evil deeds began with the original sin.
